Our nature- and farm-based gap year semester program explores sustainability through hands-on skills.

Gappers learn about outdoor education leadership through participation in experiential learning opportunities and by joining our Youth Program instructors as they work with their school groups.

We practice the crafts of food preservation, in-season cooking, forestry, carpentry, fiber arts, and beyond, helping us learn to celebrate and preserve the seasonal harvest.

Gappers learn to provide for the needs of themselves and their community by engaging with the daily and yearly rhythms of our working farm, and care of the gardens and animals.

Sharing space as a close-knit cohort of peers allows Gappers to practice the life skills that are crucial to being in community with each other: self-governance, communication practices, and group processes.

Gappers engage in reflection and critical thinking about their own life experiences and direction through learning about and volunteering at local farms and organizations that support food security.

By engaging in forest exploration, wilderness trips and hands-on skills - canoeing, backpacking, navigation, natural history, and more - Gappers experience immersion and connection with the natural world of Glen Brook and New England.
